My name is Kristina Calder

I am a Certified Women’s Health Coach specializing in peri- and postmenopause, dedicated to empowering women through personalized health promotion, guidance, support, and accountability. With an extensive background in exercise physiology and nutrition, I help women implement sustainable lifestyle changes that foster long-term vitality and wellness.

Holding both an MSc and a PhD in Neuromuscular Physiology and Biomechanics, I utilize my comprehensive understanding of the body and its systems in my coaching practice. My expertise allows me to create tailored plans that help women navigate the challenges of midlife with confidence and strength.

As a lifelong athlete, including my experience as a competitive soccer player and Ironman competitor, my passion for movement and fitness runs deep. Beyond competitive athletics, I enjoy hiking, trail running, mountain biking, snowboarding, and stand-up paddleboarding.

 

As a busy mom of 3 children, I recognize the challenges of balancing family, friendships, and life's demands, making it a priority to support women in prioritizing their own health and well-being.

Education

PhD-Neuromuscular Physiology
Queen's University

My PhD in Neuromuscular Physiology at Queen's University, under Dr. Linda McLean, focused on nerve and muscle injuries. I used advanced tools like needle electromyography to study neural and muscular functions. My research earned the Alexander Graham Bell NSERC award and resulted in six journal publications and over a dozen presentations at conferences. This journey deepened my understanding of the human body and laid the foundation for my future work in health, fitness, and well-being.

MSc- Biomechanics
Brock University

Driven by my passion for athletics, I earned a scholarship to pursue an MSc in Biomechanics at Brock University, studying under Dr. David Gabriel. My research focused on motor learning theory, specifically exploring massed vs. distributed practice in strength development. This experience deepened my understanding of human movement and performance, further fueling my commitment to enhancing physical potential.

B.Kinesiology -honors
Brock University/Simon Fraser Univeristy

I earned an athlete/academic scholarship to Simon Fraser University, where I pursued Kinesiology and played soccer, contributing to our NAIA championship win. After three years, I returned home to complete my degree at Brock University, further shaping my academic and athletic journey.
